Despite its modest size, Billund offers a wide range of activities that both children and adults can enjoy. In this guide, Zleep Hotels presents some of the most child-friendly experiences that you and your family can enjoy during the summer when staying at Zleep Hotel Billund.

Givskud Zoo

A 20-minute drive from Billund city is a 120 hektar zoo. Givskud Zoo opened to the public in 1969, but back then it only had lions roaming its park. Today, you can meet elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, chimpanzees, and many more exciting and exotic animals. Furthermore, Givskud Zoo is the only zoo in Denmark that has gorillas. Apart from the many impressions the wonderful drive among the animals offer, you can also be there for the feeding of the camels, monkeys, and lions. If the kids are up for it, Givskud Zoo is also home to a giant dinosaur park, which sends its visitors millions of years back in time where it is possible to walk among lizards and dinosaurs in their natural size. The approximately 40 meter long Argentinosaurus can take the breath away from just about anybody!

Givskud Zoo is not an ordinary zoo where you walk from cage to cage. Here there is lots of room for the animals, and many of them live together in different zones. You will be driving among the animals and get up close. The zones are divided in South and North America, the African savanna, and the lions’ territory. The latter is a large facility where the lions roam free among each other. They are used to cars driving there, so they get up close – but do try to resist the temptation to open the window. It is definitely worth a visit just to experience the beautiful lions in natural surroundings.

Lalandia

If you’re looking for fun and games for both kids and adults, then Lalandia in Billund is the obvious destination. Book a small vacation in Billund and visit the gigantic holiday resort. Lalandia accommodates, among other things, the Aquadome; Scandinavia’s largest water park that any water lover will enjoy. Rush down through the new “Twister” water slide, catch the waves in the wave pool, or relax in the hot jacuzzi. Afterwards, you can visit Monky Tonky Land, which is a paradise for kids and those young at heart. The playground contains playing fields, LEGO® area, creative workshops, and of course a large playground. If mom and dad need a break, the playground also has massage chairs and a nice café. In Lalandia, there are activities for everyone, and all the splendour is just a few kilometers from Billund city and airport.

And for you, who are visiting Lalandia, we are ready to host you at Zleep Hotel Billund. The hotel is located just 3 km from Lalandia, and after a long day in the water, it’s nice to have a comfortable bed nearby to rest in.

LEGO® House

It’s really not enough with an entire world of LEGO®, right? Luckily, you have arrived in the hometown of the toy. In Billund, you will also find LEGO® House, a unique experience center that invites you into hours of creativity in four different activity zones, one historical center, nine terraces, nine playgrounds and 25 million pieces of LEGO® blocks. The four activity zones are themed so that you play with the LEGO® blocks in different ways.

Red Zone is a creative area where a gigantic waterfall gushes into a bottomless sea of LEGO® bricks. In LEGO® Brick Builder, there are hardly any limitations to what you can build, so here you can really let your imagination run wild. In the LEGO DUPLO® Brick Builder, the youngest in the family get the same opportunity, making room for people of all ages. Yellow Zone gives life to your creativity. Literally. Digitally, anyways. In the Fish Designer, you can build your very own fish, just as you’d like it, and then you can scan in into the digital aquarium where you can see it swim with all the other fish.

LEGO House

Blue Zone is an area for logic. Here you can test your building skills and try using technologically advanced LEGO® products. In Test Driver, you can build your very own LEGO® vehicle and test it on the runway. In City Architects, you can add constructions to a metropolis. And at the Robot Lab, you get to control arctic exploration robots. Green Zone is a playfield for everyone. First, dive into the details of giant cities, towns and tropical paradises. Then, create your own unique LEGO® figure in the Character Creator with countless heads, bodies and legs. After, go to the Story Lab to create your own LEGO® adventure.

Have you already been convinced? Have you planned a LEGO® marathon that includes both LEGOLAND® and LEGO® House? Then you need to make sure that you are energized and well-rested, so you can fill your day with creative activities, games and fantasy. Zleep Hotel Billund is just 4 km from LEGO® House and offers an easy and cheap stayover in Billund.

LEGOLAND®

No visit to Billund is complete without a trip to LEGOLAND®. LEGOLAND® Billund Resort was built right next to the original LEGO® factory, which was founded in 1949. Today, the park is the most visited tourist attraction outside of Copenhagen, and with good reason: the park evokes excitement among all LEGO® lovers with its many themed areas that are based on both classic and new LEGO® series such as Ninjago, Duplo, and Knights. The heart and nostalgic center of the park is called Miniland and exhibits a series of landscapes and sights from around the world which has been recreated with thousands of small LEGO® bricks. All in all, the park is made up of more than 25 million LEGO® bricks to build the many iconic scenes. You can spend hours on playing in the park, and most families choose to purchase a two-day pass so there is enough time to explore the many areas. A trip to LEGOLAND® on your to-do list will ensure that you have an amazing and educational experience in magical surroundings.

When you’ve checked in at Zleep Hotel Billund Airport, all four attractions that are described above can be reached by car within half an hour. You can even walk to LEGOLAND® and Lalandia from the hotel if you want to experience a little bit of Billund city on the way. No matter which activities you and the kids decide to do, Billund guarantees action, games, and memorable experiences. We look forward to welcoming you at Zleep Hotel Billund Airport.
