The 100-year-old botanical garden covers an area of around 12 hectares. Here you can enjoy a wonderful stroll among beautiful flowers and plants from around the world. You can explore the geographical sections and visit the cute animals in the animal pen. Furthermore, you can see Kolding from above in the Kolding Miniature Town and much, much more.
Flowers and plants
In the geographical sections trees, shrubs and herbs are planted according to their country of origin. The sections are divided into North America, Japan, China, South America, Europe, Asia and Siberia. For example, in the Chinese section you can find a Chinese dove tree and rhododendron, in addition to primrose and Chinese bronze leaves.
In the themed gardens you can get inspiration for your own garden. These gardens consist of an herbaceous border, iris and lily garden, anti-stress garden, an aromatic and medicinal herb garden and more. There are around 10,000 roses of around 350 different types in the rose garden.
The animal pen
In the Geographical Gardens’ animal pen, you can get up close to rabbits, horses, little pigs, rock squirrels, dwarf goats and guinea pigs. They also have a beautiful collection of birds from around the world: a laughter bird, burrowing owl, green winged pigeon, barbets and a Bali starling.
Kolding Miniature Town
Kolding Miniature Town is a recreation of Kolding city as it looked in the years 1860-70… but just in miniature, on a scale of 1:10. It isn’t so small that you can see everything at once, so you’ll have to make your way through the town like a giant among the buildings. Kolding Miniature Town is located in the center of the Geographical Gardens where it was officially inaugurated in 2012. Today, it is still under development – as of 2015, 340 of the planned 700 buildings have been added. The buildings are made in a workshop in Kolding, the remaining buildings are expected to be completed by 2026.

Besides flowers, plants, animals and the miniature town, more attractions have been made available for children and playful souls. In the Geographical Gardens, a jungle path and two playgrounds have been added.
Plan your trip
The Geographical Gardens are open all year round. In the low season, entrance is free, with an entrance fee payable in the high season. You can see the opening hours and entrance price on geografiskhave.dk. Free parking is available next to the gardens. It is also possible to take a bus from Kolding station to the Geographical Gardens. Kolding station is just a short five-minute walk from Zleep Hotel Kolding.
